Every Day A Sketch!

Sketch a Day #48 is upon us! I’m back on an Adventure Time roll (but that’s ok, right?) Today’s SKaD is an experiment in using masking and layering of colors. Sketch a day #51

Every Day A Sketch!

Day #51 goes out to @davecfrankel who is my 400th twitter follower! His request was none other than the legend himself, Duke Ellington!

Duke Ellington is pretty much the greatest Jazz composer to ever live. He was so meta, he never referred to his music a jazz, but rather American Music. He wrote well over 1,000 compositions, had a 50-year career, and had a more-than-words-can-explain impact on music (much less American Music scenes). I really didn’t want to draw him as a caricature, nor as a perfect portrait, so I tried to be all jazzy and make it up as I go along and work quickly and improv over some framework I had down. Check back in a bit, I’ll be uploading the video process.

Sketch a Day #69

Every Day A Sketch!

First off- Happy May the 4th (+free Comic Book Day)!! I meant to draw something Star Wars, but the past week has been so crazy, I just managed to finally finish this long awaited Copic marker tutorial. (Here’s the youtube version if you prefer) It’s all about inking and blending!

Also there are only 17 days to go on my Kickstarter!! you can score cool original art as well as other kinds of fancy prints and sketch a day pdfs!! Thanks to everyone who donated, we’ve reached the goal, but there are now really spiffy PUSH Goals to work towards! Like more drawings, foil stamped prints, new art, and size upgrades!!!
